Henry Eugene “Gene” Butler was born on April 5, 1938, in Tulare, California, to Denvil Eugene and Elizabeth Ann (Brown) Butler. He passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at his home in Hinton, Oklahoma, at the age of 86. Gene went to high school in Orosi, CA and Stigler, Oklahoma before joining the U.S. Air Force at the age of 17. On November 12, 1960, he married Aline Folsom in Stigler, Oklahoma. Gene accepted Christ in April of 1962. They later settled in Sentinel, where Gene worked framing houses on the Burns Flat Air Force Base during its construction. In 1965, he started his own drywall business, dedicating his life to construction. In 1972, Gene and his family moved to Hinton, where he continued his work, including working at the Hinton Cemetery, mowing yards and helping others with various construction projects, retiring in 2001. Gene had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed coon hunting and car racing. He and his friends often worked on 1970s model trail bikes, fixing and racing them. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hinton. He loved listening to Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. Gene’s dedication to his work, family, and community will always be remembered and cherished by those who knew and loved him.
Gene is survived by his wife, Aline Butler of the home, Hinton; his three children, Kent Butler of Weatherford, Keith Butler and wife Tammie of Weatherford, and Kandi Vowell and husband Ty of Hinton; seven grandchildren, Brooke Fuller and husband Kyle of Hinton, Brady Butler and wife Bethany of Geary, Bailey Murray and husband Ethan of Hinton, Tanner Butler and wife Christina of Weatherford, Tate Butler of Fairview, Kyler Vowell of Hinton, and Logan Vowell and wife Kirsten of Porter; 18 great-grandchildren, Kaidence, Beniah, Judah, Jubilee, Gabriel, Josheb, Zipporah, Phineas, Hadassah, Everly, Malachi, Jeremiah, Zachary, Zane, Zander, Zoey, Gracelynn, and Jaxtyn; two sisters, Pam Pearson and husband Jim of Stigler, and Connie Jones and husband L.D. of Tahlequah, OK, and brother-in-law, Wendell Folsom; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Denvil and Elizabeth Butler; his step-mother, Pauline Butler, his brother, Tim Butler; infant brother, Jimmy, sister-in-law, Margie Folsom.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Hinton, Oklahoma, with Reverend Steve Murray officiating. Burial will follow at Hinton Cemetery.
