Hydro-Eakly School Board Approves Committees, Substitute Teacher Hire

HYDRO, Okla. – The Hydro-Eakly Board of Education met for its regular session on Monday, Feb. 10, approving several committee appointments and hiring a substitute teacher.

Acting President Johnny Stotts called the meeting to order at 7 p.m., with an invocation given by Jeremy Bussey. Board members present included Amber Sturgeon and Garrett Bernethy, along with several attendees.

Reports and Approvals

The board received an enrollment report, which showed 445 students currently enrolled, along with updates on school vehicles. Principal Jeremy Bussey also provided his report.

Board members unanimously approved the following for the 2025-2026 school year:

  • Internal Activities Review Committee
  • School Goals/Testing Committee
  • Textbook Committee

Executive Session and Personnel Decisions

At 7:11 p.m., the board moved into executive session to discuss employment matters, including a substitute teacher position and a certified employee stipend. The board returned to open session at 7:59 p.m., with no action taken on any discussions.

Following the session, the board approved National Board Teacher pay for Kandy Price for the 2024-2025 school year.

Additionally, Leif Berkey was hired as a substitute teacher for the remainder of the school year.

Other Business

There was no superintendent report or new business to discuss. The meeting adjourned with a unanimous vote.

The next scheduled board meeting will take place in March.
