Teresa Eilene Leemhuis-Charqueno was born on April 16, 1964, in Clinton, OK, to Sherman Lee, Sr. and Tywila Beth (Edwards) Leemhuis. Teresa died on January 26, 2025, in Oklahoma City, OK, at 60. She grew up in Binger, OK. She attended Binger Schools, Sequoyah Indian Schools in Tahlequah, Ok, Chilocco Indian School, and Concho Boarding School in El Reno, OK, graduating in 1982. Teresa was a good athlete in her school years, earning several state records in track. She attended Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, KS. Teresa enjoyed watching her Minnesota Vikings Football and Florida State Seminole college football teams. She enjoyed playing bingo, reading a good book, and doing puzzles. She loved it when her brother and sister would stop by for a random visit. She loved being a mother and grandma because her family meant everything to her. She will be deeply missed by all those who loved her.
Survivors Include: her children, Yvonne Nicole Roughface of OKC, OK, Rosah Davila and husband Julian of OKC, OK, Sheila Desiree Roughface of OKC, OK, Gilbert Leemhuis and wife Darcy of Blanchard, OK, Jaime Zatarain of Edmond, OK, Raquel Alvarez and husband Julio of OKC, OK, Lizbeth Perez and husband Anthony of Parker, SD, Nikolas Charqueno of OKC, OK, and Sophia Charqueno of OKC, OK, her sister, Patricia Leemhuis of Anadarko, OK, and her brother, Sherman Leemhuis, Jr. of Anadarko, OK. Her grandchildren include Angel, Mia, Valery, Naleah, Izabella, Maribel, Gianna, Siani, Abel, Victor Jr., Aracely, Emma Mauricio, Laci, Levi, Gracie, Julio Jr., Anthony Jr., Lorenzo. Her nieces and nephews include Renee Whitehorn, Paul Whitehorn, Stephanie Leemhuis, Sherman Lee Leemhuis III, Steven John Leemhuis, Sharon Leemhuis, Patricia Tomei Leemhuis, Heleena Leemhuis, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Tywila Leemhuis; her grandparents, Margaret Emma Coats Williams and Francis Williams; her brother, Stephen Leroy Leemhuis; her nephew, Thomas Ray Leemhuis; her niece Shavonne Rae Leemhuis, her great nephews, Lorenzo Patrick Leemhuis and David Leemhuis, her aunts and uncles, Harold Williams, Eula Faye Williams Medina, Ina Marie “Buelah” Williams, Paul Gibson Williams, and Melvin James “Jody” Stevens.
